All UCS® flooring has been tested to exceed the EN standards and ASTM standards from similar industries which are based on HIC and GMAX (currently no climbing flooring standard in the United States).
The modular style allows you to rotate pads in high use areas, bring outside for a more thorough cleaning, or move in case of catastrophic events. The sides of each pad are made of our 21oz knife coated vinyl and vinyl mesh for airflow while the bases are a coated vinyl to reduce shifting. Our pads are comprised of a single piece of PU foam from top to bottom to reduce friction, increase life, and eliminate the extra gap at the edge of the pad caused by having a layer of closed cell foam on top. Pads are connected with Velcro backed with the same fabric that is used for the top layer of the pad system. The top fabric layer is what makes each system different.
1050D Ballistic Nylon was originally designed in the 1930’s to be used in bullet proof vests and protective jackets to protect soldiers from shrapnel. Although new fabrics have replaced 1050D in the military sector, it has made its way into various industries where a highly durable and puncture resistant fabric is needed. What makes it so durable is the fact that the yarns are a filament more closely related to fishing line rather than a natural fiber like cotton. Each yarn is then braided with another strand of 1050D making the new strand 2100D. The term “ballistic” means the yarns are basket woven. In this case, the fabric is a 2x2 basket weave which gives the fabric its puncture resistance.The fabric is naturally water resistant but is still coated with a PU backing. (Please note, the seams are not water resistant.) Being the most durable and puncture resistant fabric used in the climbing industry, it is the easiest to maintain and will outlast other fabrics.

The UCS® Limited 5 Year Warranty Covers against defective workmanship and materials. This does NOT cover against "wear-through" caused by normal use or damage to covers caused by setter equipment or other common items being dropped onto the surface. Logo fade is also NOT included.
